Uthana, an AI company, has raised $4.3 million with the goal of transforming 3D character animation through the use of generative AI
Uthana has successfully raised $4.3 million to innovate 3D character animation through the use of generative AI.
The funding round saw participation from notable investors, including IA Ventures leading the initiative. Other contributors include A16Z Speedrun, Acequia Capital, Cursor Capital, HustleFund, MetaVision, and JonesTrauber.
In celebration of this accomplishment, Uthana has introduced an open beta of its platform, aimed at transforming the animation and game development sectors.
According to Uthana, their technology promises a new era for game developers, removing the limitations posed by fixed animation cycles and intensive manual setup. The platform enables animations that are naturally integrated into game design, dynamically reacting to the surrounding environment, narrative developments, and user interactions.
Uthana highlights that with its advanced AI, animations can be created in a matter of minutes through methods such as text-to-motion, video-to-motion, or by leveraging its extensive motion library. Users can navigate through over 10,000 movements using natural language searches.
Co-founder and CEO Viren Tellis stated, "Our mission is to surpass a visual Turing test for human movement, delivering animations that are truly authentic."
Tellis continued, emphasizing the transformative power of generative AI in animation and game development: "The technology allows creatives to bypass monotonous tasks like keyframing and expensive motion capture, which limits many in this field. This advancement promises to unleash the full creativity of professionals in the industry."
He concluded, "Our goal is to meld the real world with digital creativity. Looking ahead, we anticipate AI-driven motion to redefine our engagement with virtual personas, enhancing the levels of immersion, realism, and emotional narrative."
