Catly developer "astonished" by AI speculation, stating, "we don't believe there are AI tools capable of producing that"
Recently, there has been strong rejection by the creators of Catly, a pet simulation game introduced during The Game Awards, regarding claims that their initial trailer relied on generative AI technologies.
SuperAuthenti further dismissed speculations of involving blockchain or NFTs in their game after links to Kevin Yeung, a co-founder, were noted due to his involvement with separate blockchain initiatives at TenthPlanet.
A representative confirmed to IGN, "Generative AI was not used for the video and the game production."
"We are genuinely taken aback by these assumptions. No current AI capability is believed to generate a video of that quality, according to industry experts," the spokesperson stated.
On the topic of blockchain, they clarified, "There have never been any blockchain currencies or NFTs issued by our project. We hold no such digital assets."
IGN notes having viewed a trailer and some artwork that evidence the trailer was not created with AI.
However, SuperAuthenti did not address whether AI played a role in their promotional imagery or the crafted Steam and website marketing content, parts of which are now removed.
After some scrutiny, Hearthstone's director Ben Brode, who had provided a comment for the game's Steam listing, reassured users on BlueSky that he observed a non-interactive 20-minute gameplay section, noting, "it appeared convincingly real, with fascinating cats."
SuperAuthenti looks forward to revealing more to the gaming community in 2025.
