Rumors about this announcement were in the media the day before.
Now the following has appeared on the official Twitter of the company:
We’re excited to unveil Half-Life: Alyx, our flagship VR game, this Thursday at 10am Pacific Time.

We can’t wait to share it with all of you!”
What can be Half-Life: Alyx?
Judging by the name, the new game will be closely related to Alix Vance, the heroine of Half-Life 2 and its two sequels. The approximate release date is March 2020, according to PC Gamer. There are suggestions that the plot of the title will take place between the first and second parts.
It is important that you cannot play Alyx without a VR headset. Ars Technica writes that Valve will create a new Grabbity Gloves control system for the new game. These are gloves that will allow players to attract virtual objects to themselves. This data is confirmed by a leak from the Source 2 engine code.
Half-Life and VR
Users have been asking Valve for a new game in this universe for 12 years. The theme of the mysterious “Half-Life 3” has often become the subject of jokes for the entire industry, including the authors of the franchise themselves.
Nevertheless, few people assumed the binding of the long-awaited title to VR. After the announcement, doubts began to be expressed in social networks that the game would attract a mass audience. After all, according to official Valve statistics, VR devices were purchased by only 1.03% of Steam players. Among console users, the number of headset owners may be comparable.
According to the Telegram channel “Game Dev we deserve”, Valve plans to expand the audience of virtual reality at the expense of one of the most famous franchises. For this reason, she calls Half-Life: Alyx nothing less than a “flagship VR project”.
