Leak: Valve's VR Headset will be released on June 15
The virtual reality helmet being developed is called Valve Index.
Steam accidentally revealed the release date of the Valve Index VR headset. On the pages of the store, along with screenshots of the future novelty, its specifications have leaked. The error has already been fixed, Engadget reports. But the company confirmed that the leaked information is true, although it is incomplete.
The headset will be released on June 15. Its pre-orders will start on May 1. The base station and a pair of controllers for Valve Index will have to be purchased separately. However, they may not be needed: the headset is equipped with a flexible “tracking system from the inside” and built-in headphones.
Valve Index will be compatible with a PC, the minimum requirements for which are a dual—core processor with hyperthreading, 8 GB of RAM and an Nvidia 970 or AMD RX480 graphics card. Valve Index will also support DisplayPort 1.2 and USB 3.0. There is no information about the resolution of the displays and the viewing angle in the helmet yet.
We add that the development of Valve Index became known last week. This is not the only VR helmet that will be on sale in the near future. The new product from Oculus — Oculus Rift S — will be released this spring.
