According to Carless's estimates, the Steam version of Monster Hunter Wilds generated a gross revenue of $69.1 million on February 28. This was enough to secure second place in the top-grossing new releases of February. The game continues to accrue significant earnings. As the analyst notes, by March 2, it had already earned over $150 million on Steam.

Carless also calculated the unit sales of Monster Hunter Wilds. According to his estimates, Capcom sold over 4 million copies of the game on PC and PlayStation 5 alone, with sales on Xbox Series expected to be even higher.

While Monster Hunter Wilds had a rapid start, the first place in February's top new releases was taken by another newcomer, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. Carless estimates that this medieval RPG from Warhorse Studios earned nearly $119 million on Steam in February. He rated its sales on Valve's platform at 2 million copies, with an additional 600,000 copies sold on consoles.

Also among the top three new releases of the past month was Sid Meier’s Civilization VII. The gross revenue of this strategy game on Steam in February amounted to $66.1 million.

The analyst noted that most games receive about a third of their revenue for the debut year and a fifth of their lifetime revenue within the first one to two weeks after release. Therefore, these initial figures provide a rough indication of the income level for titles over the long term.
