Pocketpair has introduced a new publishing division and has formed a collaboration with Surgent Studios for its inaugural release
Developer Pocketpair, known for Palworld, has initiated a publishing arm and will collaborate with Surgent Studios on a new horror game slated for a late 2025 launch.
This upcoming title will stand apart from the Tales of Kenzera series. Surgent Studios affirmed ongoing discussions with other partners for projects within that universe.
Surgent Studios CEO, Abubakar Salim, stated, "Both Surgent and Pocketpair are accustomed to taking risks. We spotted a trend in the entertainment sector, and Pocketpair enables us to explore it through a horror game."
He also mentioned, "We remain engaged in meaningful dialogues about potential works within the Tales of Kenzera universe, though this particular project will be unique: marking a transition from past endeavors to future aspirations."
John Buckley, leading Pocketpair Publishing, noted, "The gaming industry is expanding, but many titles face challenges in securing funding and approval."
He continued, "Our main aim at Pocketpair Publishing is to discover passionate creators and support them in crafting exciting, innovative experiences worldwide."
Back in October, Surgent Studios paused its entire game development team due to financial struggles, putting numerous jobs at risk.
By July 2024, more than twelve employees faced layoffs just a quarter year following the debut of Tales of Kenzera: Zau.
