Google Play has awarded AFK Journey the title of Game of the Year
Google Play's editorial team has named AFK Journey as the top game of the year.
This title, released in March by Lilith Games and distributed by Farlight, is an idle role-playing game that allows players to gain experience points and resources even during periods of inactivity.
The Play editorial team lauded AFK Journey in their best games of 2024 feature for its "breathtaking animation, superb voice acting, and spellbinding world."
Though Lilith Games snagged the main accolade, Supercell also achieved notable recognition, being the sole developer to secure wins in two categories.
The Finnish developer was recognized for best multi-device game with Clash of Clans, which offers a consistent experience across smartphones, tablets, and PCs, and best multiplayer game for Squad Busters.
Squad Busters, which debuted in May, is Supercell's sixth game. The multiplayer arena game earned $1.1 million on launch day and $24 million in its initial month. Earlier this year, an interview with the game lead, Eino Joas, highlighted the game's development and its early success.
Other developers such as Hoyoverse, Noodlecake, and Netmarble were also acknowledged in Google's annual awards.
