AFK Journey - A 2024 Mobile Game According to Google Play
Google has released its first results of the outgoing year and named the best games in its app store for 2024.
Game of the Year
AFK Journey — a battler with gacha and idle mechanics, developed by the Chinese company Lilith Games. Google highly praised the game for its graphics, sound, vast character selection, and combat system.

Best Game for Any Device
Clash of Clans — a hit from Supercell, released over 12 years ago. Google commended the developers for continuing to optimize the game, making it playable not just on smartphones but also on tablets, Chromebooks, or PCs through the desktop version of Google Play Games.
Best Multiplayer Game
Squad Busters — another game from Supercell, but significantly newer. Squad Busters was released on May 29, 2024.
Best Everyday Game
Eggy Party — a social party game from NetEase, in the spirit of Fall Guys. Unlike the latter, the characters in Eggy Party are animated eggs. Recently, NetEase launched a program with a 10 million dollar fund for users who create new maps in Eggy Party.
Best Indie Game
Yes, Your Grace — a pixel strategy game about ruling a medieval kingdom. Players assume the role of a king who needs to deal with numerous concerns: handling citizens' complaints, securing beneficial political alliances, and preparing for battles. The mobile version of Yes, Your Grace was published by Noodlecake.
Best Storyline
Solo Leveling: Arise — an action RPG with gacha by Netmarble, based on the manhwa of the same name. The game narrates the tale of hunters clearing dungeons of monsters.
Best Game with Regular Updates
Honkai: Star Rail — a space RPG developed by the Chinese team miHoYo. Last year, this game was awarded the game of the year title.
Best Family Game
Tab Time World — an educational game for children. It includes several modes with mini-games, ranging from coloring to creating your own music. According to the developers from Kids at Play studio, their game helps children express emotions and develop cognitive skills.
Best Play Pass Game
Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance TD — the latest in the Tower Defense series by Uruguayan studio Ironhide Game. Google praised the newcomer for its lack of ads and extra paid content.
Best Game for PC Version of Google Play Games
Cookie Run: Tower of Adventures — the latest installment in the Cookie Run series by South Korean company Devsisters. Google particularly appreciated the game's full support for keyboard and mouse, as well as cross-platform synchronization between mobile and PC versions.
