Valve has started accepting developer applications for Steam Deck devkits

Valve has announced that Steam Deck devkits are ready to ship. The company started accepting applications from developers and clarified that the number of devkits is limited.

Valve announced this on September 2 at the Steamworks forum. Along with this, she showed a photo of her laptop PC packed in a shipping box.

To get a devkit, you need to fill out a special form and familiarize yourself with the agreement and the rules for using Steam Deck. Each application will be considered separately.

“We can’t wait to give you all these devkits and we will be glad to receive your feedback on the Steam Deck,” Valve says. The company promises to send the kits “as soon as possible”, but does not name the exact delivery dates.

Valve announced the Steam Deck in July. Now you can book the opportunity to buy a device for $5. The portable PC itself will go on sale in December 2021 at a price of $399. Russia is not in the list of countries yet.

According to the company, most of the existing games run on the Steam Deck at at least 30 frames per second. The console is running Proton, which allows you to play titles for Windows on Steam OS.
