Free Fire has gained more than a billion downloads on Google Play. This is a record for mobile battle royales
The number of Free Fire downloads on Google Play has exceeded a billion. As the developers from Garena point out, no other mobile battle royale can boast of such an achievement yet.
The Singapore company wrote about this on its LinkedIn page. She thanked the players and promised to hold a festive event in August.
Garena did not specify how many downloads Free Fire has in total. Therefore, it is unknown how much the game was downloaded in the App Store and other Android stores.
Free Fire was released in November 2017. According to App Annie, in 2019 it became the most downloaded mobile game in the world. Also, Free Fire regularly ranks among the most profitable mobile games, and this spring it beat its competitor, PUBG Mobile, at the box office in the USA, earning $ 100 million for the first quarter of 2021.
Note that PUBG Mobile reached a billion downloads in March of this year. However, its authors took into account downloads on both Android and iOS.
