Physical sales of Cyberpunk 2077 increased by 374%, but online games on Steam fell by 99%
Several events related to Cyberpunk 2077 took place over the weekend. At first, CD PROJEKT management stated that it was quite a general state of the game. After that, it became known that sales of the title increased by 374%. But then it turned out that his audience on the PC continued to plummet.
1. CD PROJEKT believes that the stability and performance of Cyberpunk 2077 is at a “satisfactory” level
This was told by the CEO of the Polish company Adam Kiciński at the GPW Innovation Day conference.
He also noted that he was quite pleased with how the work on Cyberpunk 2077 was progressing.
However, the developers will continue to release patches, and in future updates they want to fix the “general system” of the game. Now more than 600 people are engaged in patches and the next generation version of Cyberpunk 2077.
Separately, Kiczynski mentioned that CD PROJEKT has teams that have started working on unannounced games based on the Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher franchises. But the head of the Polish company did not disclose the details of the projects.
Kiczynski refused to share data on the first sales of the game after returning to the PS Store. He assured that CD PROJEKT will name these figures when they reach the desired mark.
2. Sales of Cyberpunk 2077 in the UK jumped by 374%
Although the CEO of CD PROJEKT did not show sales data, the analytical company GfK did it partly for him.
According to her calculations, against the background of the return of Cyberpunk 2077 to the PS Store, retail sales of the title in the UK alone increased by 374% at once. Sales rose on all platforms: PS4, Xbox One and PC. As a result, Cyberpunk 2077 ranked 22nd in the top of the best-selling games in the country for the previous week.
It is important to note: analysts did not include sales in the PS Store itself in the statistics. It was exclusively about the physical sales of Cyberpunk 2077.
The first place in the UK chart went to Mario Golf: Super Rush. The previous leader Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart dropped to third place.
3. Online Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam dropped by 99%
Despite strong sales, the CD PROJEKT project has lost a lot of PC players.
According to the SteamDB service, Cyberpunk 2077 online sank by 99%.
Recall that on the premiere day, the number of simultaneous users on Steam exceeded one million people. A month later, online dropped to 225 thousand. And this Sunday, June 27, the indicator has already collapsed to the level of 15.7 thousand players.
At the same time, Cyberpunk 2077 is now being sold on Steam with a 33% discount, and in general the game has collected mostly positive reviews (76%).
