The publisher of Tilting Point has bought the St. Petersburg studio Plamee from the company Playtech
Plamee, a mobile game developer working in St. Petersburg, has a new owner. On July 15, the publisher of freeplay projects, Tilting Point, announced its acquisition from Playtech, a gambling company.

Together with the Russian asset, the publisher acquired a number of assets from the American publisher FTX Games, which was also responsible for publishing Plamee games.
So from now on, Tilting Point is officially listed as: Narcos: Cartel Wars, The Walking Dead: Free Casino Slots and Criminal Minds: The Mobile Game.
The value of the transaction is not specified. It is also unclear exactly what changes await the St. Petersburg studio. At the same time, in an interview with VentureBeat, the CEO of Tilting Point, Kevin Segalla, noted that the publisher will “take” 4 FTX Games employees and 20 Plamee employees as part of the deal.
Plamee was launched in 2014 as part of Playtech. Since its foundation, she has been creating mobile free-play games. The main project of the studio is the Narcos: Cartel Wars strategy developed under the Netflix license (it grew out of a Boom Beach clone under the name Army of Heroes). The number of the studio reached 60 people.
In December 2019, there were rumors about cuts in the team, almost about its closure. However, one of our sources noted at the time that the company was “just going through some changes.” Perhaps it was at that time that the process of changing ownership began.
On the GamesIndustry pages, the sale of Plamee and partially affiliated assets is associated with changes in Playtech. The Estonian—based company has made a strategic decision to focus exclusively on the development of its core business – gambling entertainment.
For Tilting Point, the current purchase is already the second this year. Previously specializing in the purchase and development of already established hits, the publisher in March acquired the Star Trek: Timelines game and 19 developers from Disruptor Beam.
By the way, a little earlier this July — simultaneously with the release of SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off — the company announced a paradigm shift. If earlier the Tilting Point was exclusively engaged in the operation of released titles, now it officially helps with the development.
