Google Play has clarified the timing of checking children's games
Google Play has turned to the creators of children’s and family apps. Now such applications are being checked for compliance with new requirements for the protection of children. Developers are asked to submit games for review at least a week before the release or major updates.
In May, we announced new rules on Google Play. They are aimed at protecting children from content that is not intended for them. At the same time, the store asked the developers to specify the target audience of their applications in the new section of the Google Play Console. It was necessary to do this before September 1.
By now, Google has found out that checking applications for compliance with the new rules takes longer than usual. It takes up to 7 days. But sometimes this period can be extended — in exceptional cases.
In this regard, Google asks developers to save time and request verification in advance. And besides, do not request it again if the examination is not finished yet.
“We respect you and your business and are aware that longer inspection periods may affect your work. But our goal is to prepare you for these changes and minimize the risks for you,” the Android Developers blog says.
Recall that Google checks all aspects of the application — from the advertising campaign to the icon and screenshots. In addition, the store now classifies products into categories: “for children”, “for children and adults”, “for adults”.
