Apple called the terms of placement of Steam Link in the App Store
Apple has updated the rules for publishing applications in the App Store. According to the updated policy, in order to be placed in the official Apple store, programs should not allow users to buy content outside the App Store. Failure to comply with this condition did not allow Valve to release the Steam Link game streaming application in the App Store.
It is important to note that the ban on in-app purchases applies only to multiplatform programs. Apple clarifies that Steam Link and similar applications should not contain a store interface or allow you to search and buy content that the user does not have. At the same time, Apple does not prohibit making in-game purchases inside the apps themselves.
Simply put, Apple wants it to be possible only to stream games from its Steam library to iOS devices via Steam Link, but not to purchase them through a mobile client.
Recall that last month the App Store rejected a request to publish a Steam Link, although Valve reported that the companies had previously reached an agreement on the release of the iOS version of the application.
The Steam Link app allows players to stream games from their computer to external devices. The beta version of the mobile client launched on Android in May of this year.
