Publisher Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery fired a group of employees
Among those who fell under a series of layoffs at the California-based Jam City company were specialists from the Marvel Avengers Academy development team.
Over the past few years, Jam City (formerly SGN) has been aggressively behaving in the market, buying studios TinyCo, Kiwi Inc, Brainz and Fat Rascal Games. At the same time, the main division of the company continued to work on its hit projects in the three-in-a-row genre.
An anonymous source told Gamasutra that in the last few weeks, Jam City has been massively firing employees, including members of the TinyCo team, a studio that worked on titles such as Tiny Monsters, Marvel Avengers Academy and Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff.
According to the source, the layoffs are due to the fact that Jam City decided to concentrate on promoting the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery mobile role-playing game, the most successful project in its history. From TinyCo, only the backbone of developers engaged in the game Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow remained.
Jam City officials declined to comment on the situation with dismissals.
