Worldwide sales of PlayStation 4 exceeded 76 million units
Sony has reported financial results for 2017. The company reported that 19 million PlayStation 4 consoles were sold last year. Since the release of the latest generation of PlayStation in 2013, Sony has sold more than 76 million PS4s worldwide.
This is significantly more than the sales of its competitors in the current generation of game consoles.
Although Microsoft does not disclose Xbox One sales figures, the rating resource VGChatz in August last year estimated total worldwide sales of all console modifications at 30 million units.
The Nintendo Switch hybrid console appeared on the market a little over a year ago. According to the latest data from Nintendo, its sales amount to 17 million units.
Despite the global leadership in the console market, Sony’s management predicts a slowdown in PlayStation 4 sales.
The company expects to compensate for this by increasing sales of games, including their digital copies through the PlayStation Network gaming platform.
