Games launched with the help of the indie program ID@Xbox earned $1 billion

Microsoft has shared the success of its ID@Xbox program. Over the five years of its existence, the total earnings of all projects released with its help amounted to $ 1 billion.

Chris Charla, the program director, wrote about this the other day in the official Xbox blog. He timed the publication to coincide with the GDC conference currently taking place in San Francisco.

This suggests that ID@Xbox has become a proven program for independent developers who are interested both in terms of creative implementation and commercial success.

During the existence of the program, 800 games from 477 teams have been released,” Chris also said, noting that this year 50 more projects will be released within its framework, including games such as Black Desert, Starbound and the domestic Dead Ahead: Zombie Warfare.

What is ID@Xbox?

Officially, the program is positioned as a service that allows independent developers of any size to independently launch a game in the Windows Store or on Xbox.

Unfortunately, this is not an adaptation of modern mobile standards for Microsoft platforms. Rather, standardization of reception and work with projects.

Plus, participation does not require additional costs, if the project receives approval, the devkits go for free, and the games after release usually get a feature on Xbox Live.
