Indian publisher Nazara has bought a controlling stake in the studio of VR games

Nazara Technologies acquired a controlling stake in the local Nextwave Multimedia studio. The latter specializes in the development of sports titles and games for virtual reality.

The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

Over the past 7 years, Nextwave titles have been downloaded 100 million times, the total MAU of the company’s projects totals 15 million. The World Cricket Championship sports franchise brought the greatest fame to the company.

According to Nazara Technologies, the company intends to develop the popular WCC sports franchise both in the format of mobile games and in the form of VR titles in gaming halls.

According to the head of Nazara Games, Manish Agarwal, the company is not going to stop there and is planning new acquisitions of game studios.

Previously, Nazara invested in MasterMind Sports, Moong Labs and HalaPlay.
