Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 have been postponed in Canada

Nintendo has rescheduled the start of Switch 2 pre-orders in Canada, moving them from the originally planned April 9 date to coincide with a new, yet-to-be-confirmed pre-order date for the United States.
Despite this change, the Switch 2's anticipated launch on June 5 remains unaffected.
Last week, Nintendo postponed the pre-orders in the US as the company evaluated the effects of tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump.
A representative from Nintendo of Canada informed MobileSyrup that the Canadian delay mirrors the situation in the US. The statement mentioned, "Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in Canada will not commence on April 9, 2025, to synchronize with the pre-order timeline to be announced for the US."
"Nintendo will release new information in due course. The launch date of June 5, 2025 stands as planned."
The price for the Nintendo Switch 2 base unit in Canada is set at CA$629.
The uncertainty in the US market is linked to these tariffs, given that Nintendo manufactures the Switch 2 in Vietnam and Cambodia. These countries face significant 'retaliatory' tariffs on imports, as introduced by Trump, effective April 9.
In contrast, pre-orders have commenced in other regions, such as Europe. Updates will be provided when Nintendo announces a new US pre-order date.
