Warner Bros. Games has reportedly called off a previously undisclosed expansion for "Hogwarts Legacy" that was expected to debut later in the year.

According to information from Bloomberg, insiders revealed that the planned downloadable content (DLC) and a definitive edition of the game were part of the cuts in an ongoing restructuring effort.

Reportedly, the decision was made because the content did not offer enough to warrant the proposed price.

Bloomberg noted that Warner Bros. did not provide a comment on the rumored expansion's cancellation.

Insider Gaming suggested that the DLC was intended to include 10 to 15 hours of fresh quests and activities.

In its statement to shareholders, following its latest financial disclosures, Warner Bros. characterized 2024 as a "challenging year" for its gaming division. The company's gaming revenue saw a 29% decline during the last quarter of the year.

Prior to releasing its Q4 figures, the company had started a restructuring plan resulting in the closure of Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and Warner Bros. San Diego. This led to the cancellation of Monolith's anticipated Wonder Woman game.

The restructuring was explained as a step to better allocate resources towards established intellectual properties and games from top-tier studios.

Warner Bros. intends to center its gaming efforts around four major franchises that have collectively generated $1 billion in consumer sales historically: Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Mortal Kombat, and DC.

"The success of Hogwarts Legacy has inspired our reimagined strategy," stated Warner Bros. Games.

The statement concluded, "With our refined approach, we aim to resume production of high-quality games designed for sustained consumer interest, which we anticipate will rejuvenate our gaming division's profitability by 2025 and promote growth in subsequent years."
