Kayleen Walters, Vice President of Gaming at Microsoft, has been named the head of Mojang.

The newly appointed head of Mojang Studios is Kayleen Walters, who is currently vice president of Microsoft Gaming. Walters is stepping into this role as Åsa Bredin exits the position to pursue personal aims beyond her professional life.

According to Variety, Federico San Martin will assume responsibility for Walters' tasks related to managing franchise development.

Under Walters' leadership, Mojang Studios will benefit from the support of its global leadership team. Amy Stillion will enhance her responsibilities as chief of staff, aiding in both games and content studios' operations, in addition to Mojang's projects.

In a memo obtained by Variety, Helen Chiang, chief operating officer of Microsoft game content and studios, expressed confidence in the team's ability to offer outstanding experiences to players and the wider community during times of transition.

She acknowledged Bredin's positive influence since 2021, wishing her success in future endeavors. Chiang highlighted the team's strong leadership and clear strategic direction as critical assets in navigating market challenges efficiently.

In related news, it has been noted that a new indie publishing label, Three Friends, has been established by former employees of Mojang and Coffee Stain.
