Crytek reduces workforce by 15%, places Crysis 4 project on hold

Crytek, a game developer based in Germany, has announced a reduction in its workforce by 15%, impacting about 60 staff members across its development and shared services departments.

The announcement was made via social media, where the company also revealed that the development of Crysis 4 will be paused due to this restructuring.

In the official statement, Crytek expressed its regret over the decision, acknowledging the valuable contributions of its employees. The company mentioned its efforts to transition developers to the ongoing project, Hunt: Showdown 1896, after suspending work on the next installment of Crysis in the third quarter of 2024.

The statement emphasized that although Hunt: Showdown 1896 is experiencing growth, continuing the current operational model is unsustainable for the company financially. Despite attempts to manage expenses, Crytek concluded that workforce reductions are essential for future progress.

Ending on a positive note, Crytek reiterated its commitment to the future, particularly highlighting the importance of Hunt: Showdown 1896 in its ongoing operations.
