In South Korea, young game developers are compensated up to half of the rent for housing

The authorities of the South Korean city of Busan, together with the Busan IT Industry Development Agency, decided to support local youth engaged in game development. By the end of the year, they will be helping young developers with the payment of rental housing.

As part of a special program, developers will be reimbursed up to 50% of the rent. The maximum amount is 250 thousand won, or about $180.8 per month.

Under the terms of the program, developers under the age of 39 can apply for support. They should live in Busan and work for a small or medium-sized gaming company that has a division in that city.

Busan authorities added that developers with any income and even those who already have their own housing can participate in the program. The main thing is that they meet all the requirements. Officials hope that with the help of the program they will be able to make the city more attractive to young people.

There are currently 146 gaming-related companies in Busan, employing about 1.5 thousand people.
