NetEase's gaming division earned $9.85 billion in 2021 — more than Nintendo, Activision Blizzard and EA
NetEase has published a financial report for the fourth quarter and the whole of 2021. Successful releases of Naraka: Bladepoint, Harry Potter: Magic Awakened and Revelation Mobile helped the Chinese company to increase gaming revenue. As a result, it has overtaken a number of other large companies in terms of revenue from games.

- The net revenue of the entire company for the quarter was ¥24.4 billion ($3.8 billion). This is 23.3% more than a year ago.
- NetEase’s gross profit reached ¥12.9 billion ($2 billion) — an increase of 30% in annual terms.
- Revenue of the gaming division increased by 29.8% to ¥17.4 billion ($2.7 billion). 68% of this amount was brought to the company by mobile games.
The main figures for 2021
- The annual revenue of the entire NetEase amounted to ¥87.6 billion ($13.7 billion). An increase of 18.9% compared to the previous year.
- The gross profit of the Chinese company for the year increased by 20.5% to ¥46.9 billion ($7.3 billion).
- As for the revenue from the games, it amounted to 62.8 billion rubles ($9.85 billion) — 15% more than in 2020. According to analyst Daniel Ahmad, this is more than Nintendo, Activision Blizzard ($8.8 billion) and Electronic Arts ($6.5 billion) managed to earn on games.
- NetEase explains the growth of gaming revenue with recent releases — Naraka: Bladepoint, Harry Potter: Magic Awakened and the mobile version of Revelation. The company also noted the success of some “old” games, such as Sky and the Fantasy Westward Journey series.
- The share of mobile gaming revenue decreased from 71.9% to 70.4%.
