In 2021, Microsoft's gaming direction earned $16.28 billion, which is the best result for a calendar year

Microsoft has reported on the results of the second fiscal quarter of 2022, which ended on December 31. It also became known how the entire calendar year 2021 passed for the company — it turned out to be a record for the gaming direction.

The main figures for the fiscal second quarter of 2022

However, it can be assumed that revenue amounted to about $ 5.4 billion (since it is known that in the second fiscal quarter of 2021, the games brought the company over $ 5 billion).
  • Console revenue grew 4% thanks to the success of the Xbox Series X|S. According to analysts, at the moment the company has sold over 12 million consoles of the new generation.
  • Quarterly revenue from Xbox content and services grew by 10% year-on-year. This was due to the growing popularity of the Game Pass subscription and Microsoft’s own games. Recall that last week the company announced that the number of Game Pass subscribers reached 25 million people.
  • During a conversation with investors, Microsoft also noted that 20 million people have played in Halo Infinite since its release — this is the best launch in the history of the franchise. Another novelty, Forza Horizon 5, was played by more than 18 million people.
