The new Nintendo Switch will be released in October. The main difference from the previous version is the OLED display

Nintendo has officially unveiled a new version of Switch. The console will have a 7-inch OLED screen. However, contrary to previous rumors, it will not support 4K resolution in TV mode.

The new Nintendo Switch will go on sale on October 8 at a price of $349.99. According to the Nintendo World store, in Russia it will be sold at a price of 30,499 rubles.

As Bloomberg previously reported, the new console will receive a brighter and larger OLED display with a diagonal of 7 inches (versus 6.2 inches for the original Switch). Sources of the publication also talked about a new chip to support 4K resolution when connected to TV.

But, judging by the characteristics, the information about the new hardware was not confirmed. “The OLED model does not have a new processor or an increased amount of RAM compared to previous versions of the Switch, a Nintendo representative said in a comment to The Verge.

The display of the device itself will still support a resolution of 1280×720, and in TV mode it will be able to display a picture in 1080p. The updated Nintendo Switch will also receive improved built-in speakers, a new wider and more reliable stand with a LAN port, as well as 64 gigabytes of internal memory.

Otherwise, the Switch remains the same. The battery life is still around 4.5-9 hours (depending on the games being launched). Full specifications can be found here.
