"Destroy my game": a new section with honest reviews for developers has appeared on Reddit
The Reddit community decided to help indie developers get unbiased reviews of their games. For these purposes, the Destroy My Game subreddit appeared on the site (Destroy my Game), whose users should point out the pros and cons of the proposed projects without embellishment and as honestly as possible. An example of one of the projects submitted to the court of Destroy My Game users
On June 21, the user prog_meister announced the creation of the Destroy My Game subreddit.
According to him, developers always lack honest feedback. The main goal of the initiative is to enable the creator of games to hear the truth, albeit sometimes bitter.
“Friends and family members are notoriously bad critics. Of course, you can ask for feedback in other developer subreddits. However, usually the unspoken rule says: “Say something nice or better keep quiet.” But not here,” reads the description.
The
rules are quite simple. The developer can upload his playable build, gameplay video, screenshot or any other material on the game to Destoy My Games. After that, users will see the post and offer their criticism. “Have fun and don’t take anything personally,” writes prog_meister.Some developers have already tested the new subreddit. Among the proposed projects there are a variety of projects — from arcade racing to fantasy action games in retro style. Reddit users (at least for now) are trying to constructively point out the pros and cons, as well as give advice on improving titles.
There are already similar sections on Reddit in other areas. For example, users of the Destructive Readers subreddit offer their feedback to novice writers. prog_meister hopes that Destroy My Game can become just as useful and effective.
