Electronic Arts has completed the purchase of Glu Mobile for $2.4 billion. The company is strengthening the mobile direction

Glu Mobile has officially joined Electronic Arts. The entire transaction cost the company $2.4 billion. Thus, a major publisher plans to significantly expand and strengthen its mobile direction.Glu Mobile’s business was valued at $2.1 billion, but the studio had another $364 million in its accounts.

The deal was part of EA’s growth strategy, which is associated with the release of a large number of games-services on different platforms.

In particular, the company hopes that Glu Mobile will help significantly expand its mobile direction. “We are forming a powerful growth mechanism that will expand our current games and provide players around the world with a new experience in casual, midcore and sports genres,” said CEO of EA Andrew Wilson (Andrew Wilson).

Glu Mobile, which has 800 employees (including 500 developers), will become part of the Electronic Arts mobile division. The company’s CEO Nick Earl noted that with the help of EA, the studio hopes to bring the Kim Kardashian franchises: Hollywood, Design Home, Covet Fashion and MLB Tap Sports Baseball to a new level.

The acquisition of Glu Mobile will allow EA to create a mobile portfolio of 15 online services with a monthly audience of 100 million active users.

Now Electronic Arts is actively working on transferring its key franchises to mobile platforms. This week, a closed beta test of Apex Legends Mobile was launched on Android, and in 2022 a mobile Battlefield from Industrial Toys studio will be released.
