Facebook to support Epic Games in conflict with Apple
Epic Games has a new ally in the fight against Apple. Facebook has sided with Fortnite developers, which has been dealing with the Apple company for several months.
Facebook will not directly participate in the trial of Epic and Apple, but will support developers through “disclosure of additional information.” As the social giant writes in his blog, he intends to provide Epic with various documents and materials that will help prove Apple’s anti-competitive behavior.
All this is part of Facebook’s campaign to protect business interests. According to the corporation, Apple abuses its rights to the App Store and prevents fair competition on the platform.
Facebook itself has been opposing Apple’s new policy for a long time, mainly related to changing the privacy rules on iOS 14. For example, back in September, the social network appealed to the European Commission with an appeal to pay attention to Apple’s behavior.
Now the corporation again indicates that Apple cares more about its own profits than about the security of iOS users. Therefore, Facebook seeks to draw as much attention as possible to the negative consequences of Apple’s policy, including opposing it in other court cases.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Epic has left the situation without comment at the moment.
