What games were shown at The Game Awards 2020? Spoiler: New Dragon Age and Mass Effect teaser
On the night of December 10-11, the game analogue of the Oscar was held — The Game Awards 2020. In addition to the awards itself, it also hosted a number of announcements and debut screenings of gameplay for the expected games. We have made a selection of the brightest projects from the event.
Century: Age of Ashes is a free—to-play multiplayer title about battles on healthy dragons. The game will be released on Steam in February next year. Now it is in closed early access
Perfect Dark is the expected announcement of the reinterpretation of the classic shooter for the Nintendo 64. The development is led by the newly formed Microsoft studio The Initiative.
Back4Blood from Turtle Rock Studios and Warner Bros is the ideological heir of Left 4 Dead. The novelty is a cooperative first-person shooter for four players. The alpha version will be available next week.
Hood: Outlaws & Legends is a team role—playing game about robberies in the Early Middle Ages. You will have to break into castles and fight with both NPCs and other players.
The Callisto Protocol is claimed to be one of the scariest video games. Created by Striking Distance Studios, which is headed by Glen Schofield, producer of the Dead Space series.
Warhammer 40,000: Dark Tide is a futuristic version of Vermintide from the same developers, the Swedish team Fatshark.
Open Roads is a new atmospheric “walking simulator” from Fullbright (Gone Home, Tacoma). This time with a warmer atmosphere and, like, without mysticism and fiction, but raising the topic of the relationship between parents and children.
Disco Elysium – The Final Cut. An expanded edition of the original game. It will be free for owners of the current version of the game.
Dragon Age. No new details, no gameplay. They showed only a short video, according to which it is impossible to understand what kind of new game the franchise will be. Important: in the teaser, the new game does not have an ordinal number.
Endless Dungeon is a new game in the Endless series by Amplitude Studios (it has Dungeon of the Endless, Endless Legend and two parts of Endless Space on its account). Tactical action bagel.
Crimson Desert is the most graphically impressive announcement of the event. A new role-playing game from the Korean Pearl Abyss, the authors of Black Desert. There are no details yet. Most likely, like the company’s previous games, it will be an MMORPG.
Season is a beautiful adventure game about a young man who travels by bicycle around the world, doomed to a quick death. It is being developed by the authors of the multiplayer Darwin Project. Exclusive for PlayStation 5.
Ark 2 is a continuation of the multiplayer survival about the prehistoric world. Vin Diesel participates in the promotion.
Evil Dead The Game is another cooperative horror in the announcements, but this time in the universe of the “Sinister Dead“. Preparing the project for the release of Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games.
Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection is a remaster of the 1985 platformer. The original was released for the NES.
Returnal. This is an exclusive for PlayStation. The game was announced in the summer, but for the first time its gameplay was shown in detail at the presentation.
Road 96 is an adventure game about a hitchhiking adventure through a fictional authoritarian state from the authors of Valiant Hearts.
It Takes Two is a new game by Josef Fares, in which he continues to develop the ideas of A Way Out. Only this time the emphasis in the game will be shifted in favor of platforming.
Evil West is a new franchise from the developer of Shadow Warrior 3, Flying Wild Hog. There are no details about the project yet.
Just Cause Mobile. Square Enix has decided to move the Just Cause franchise to a mobile freeplay. How well she will succeed, we will find out only next year, when she appears on iOS and Android.
Ruined King is a single-player game in the League of Legends universe. The gameplay was presented at the event for the first time. Now the game visually and mechanically very much resembles Battle Chasers: Nightwar from Airship Syndicate (to the point of confusion).
Mass Effect. As in the case of Dragon Age, nothing new was shown (it was known earlier that a new game was being developed in the universe), except for a beautiful video that ends with a pathetic communication that the history of the series will continue. The game does not have a numbered part or a subtitle either.
