The mobile version of League of Legends has become available in seven Asian countries
Riot Games has released an open beta of League of Legends: Wild Rift, a mobile version of its popular MOBA. Now the game is available only in seven Asian countries, and in Russia it will launch in December.Wild Rift is an adaptation of the PC version of League of Legends, some elements of which have been specially modified or adapted for mobile devices.
In addition to the different controls, many champions in the game have a different set of abilities. The size of the map also became smaller, as Riot wanted the average gaming session not to exceed 15 minutes.
Now League of Legends: Wild Rift is available on Android and iOS in Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and South Korea. Later, the open beta test will begin in five more Asian countries.
In Europe, Russia, North Africa and the Middle East, the game will appear in December. American and Indian players will have to wait until the spring of 2021.
Riot Games failed to launch the game in all regions at the same time due to the difficulties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, the company still does not say whether the Wild Rift will be released in China.
Back in 2016, the audience of League of Legends exceeded 100 million people, and Wild Rift can become a competitive game in the mobile MOBA market. Now the most successful title in this segment is Honor of Kings, 96% of whose revenue comes from Chinese users.
