A documentary was released about the creation of Alien: Isolation, which was originally done in secret from SEGA

A 20-minute documentary about the creation of Alien: Isolation was released on the NoClip channel. The developers told how they were inspired by the very first Ridley Scott movie and made the first prototype secretly from SEGA.

The authors of NoClip talked with the Creative Assembly studio about how they managed to bring to life a horror game in the Alien universe.

  • SEGA did not know about the development of the Aliens: Isolation prototype before the studio did not show it at the pitching. It was the first demo in the lab that convinced the publisher to give the project the green light;
  • Creative Assembly was inspired by the 1979 film Alien and wanted to make the xenomorph one of the scariest opponents in the history of video games;
  • initially, the game had a camera with a third-person view. In the video, the developers tell how the change of perspective eventually made the game more atmospheric.
