Swedish holding company Thunderful Group bought the developers of Jurassic World Aftermath for $29.8 million
The Swedish holding Thunderful Group will include the British studio Coatsink Software, which is also working on a VR project on the “Jurassic World”. The transaction amount was $29.8 million.Thunderful Group will pay $14.9 million in cash and the same amount in shares.
Also, Coatsink may receive an additional $55.1 million if it reaches its planned financial goals for 2021 and 2022.
At the same time, the British studio will remain an independent developer and will now continue to operate as part of Thunderful. The holding said in a statement that the deal “will allow both companies to accelerate and strengthen the development of current and future games.” There are already several released projects in the Coatsink portfolio, including a puzzle about a two-headed dog PHOGS! and the VR game Shadow Point. At the moment, Coatsink is also working on five more new titles. Among them are Transformers Battlegrounds and Jurassic World Aftermath.This is not the first deal for the Thunderful Group this year. In February, the company acquired the Swedish studio Guru Games. The holding also includes Image & Form, Zoink and Rising Star Games.
