A role-playing game based on Russian fairy tales scored more than $ 100 thousand on Kickstarter

In less than a month, the domestic game Black Book, made in the setting of Russian folk tales and epics, collected $ 103 thousand using the Kickstarter crowdfunding service. This is almost three times more than the originally set goal.

To successfully complete the campaign, the game needed only $ 35 thousand. This amount was collected in four days.

Now, when the game has over a hundred thousand in the piggy bank, it continues to actively collect money. There are 11 days left until the end of the campaign.

Black Book is a role—playing adventure game with combat card mechanics. Its authors compare the game with titles such as Slay the Spire and Quest for Glory. The plot of the project tells about a young sorceress Vasilisa, who travels through Russia in the 19th century, controls her own demons and fights evil spirits.

Simultaneously with the start of the campaign to raise money, a demo version of Black Book became available on Steam — about an hour of the game. According to it, it is already possible to evaluate both graphics and many basic mechanics. The ratings of the demo are almost exclusively positive (rating — 93%).

Game developer — Perm studioMorteshka. Black Book is her second project. In 2017, the indie studio released an atmospheric adventure game “The Man”, created based on the myths of the Finno-Ugric tribes.

The publisher of the Black Book is the Moscow publisher HypeTrain Digital. The company is one of the few Russian publishers that successfully conduct Kickstarter campaigns every once in a while. Earlier, with her support, the Stoneshard bagel scored $100 thousand and $59 thousand survival The Wild Eight.
