Mobile game publisher Scopely has announced the acquisition of PierPlay game studio, developer of the word puzzle Scrabble GO.
The game was released in March 2020 and quickly took top positions. Now more than 2.5 million users enter the game every day. The transaction amount is unknown.
2. Macarthur Fortune Holding acquires Jagex for $530 million
Asset management company Macarthur Fortune Holding has announced the acquisition of Jagex, one of the largest developers and publishers of video games in the UK, author of RuneScape.
3. Guilded raised $7 million to create a gaming chat platform
California-based software developer Guilded has raised $7 million to create a universal chat platform for gaming communities.
Investments will be used to strengthen the team, expand the functionality of the product, create strategic partnerships with leading game publishers and developers, as well as esports teams and organizations.
4. Bublar Group acquires Goodbye Kansas for $5.7 million (initial consideration)
The developer of XR technologies Bublar Group AB intends to acquire 100% of Goodbye Kansas, a provider of visual effects services in the entertainment industry (including the gaming industry).
The final cost of the acquisition will consist of the initial non-monetary remuneration (issue of 16.4 million shares equivalent to $5.7 million) and additional conditional remuneration (up to 33.9 million shares equivalent to about $11.8 million).
5. Bright Star Studios attracted $0.7 million of pre-seed investment
Bright Star Studios (formerly So Couch Studios) has attracted $0.7 million in investments as part of a pre-seed funding round for the development of an MMORPG game based on the Ember Sword blockchain.
The money will also be used to expand the team. The lead investor in the transaction was the profile venture fund Play Ventures with the participation of the Galaxy Interactive EOS VC fund.
