The online peak in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has reached a three-year high
The Witcher 3 has grown dramatically online. For the first time in three years, it exceeded 48 thousand Steam users. The reason may be in the new series of the franchise — and not only.
According to SteamCharts, almost 50 thousand people played The Witcher 3 at the same time yesterday.
The last time the peak online gaming was higher than it is now, in June 2016 — up to 53 thousand people. It is important that a month before The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt received the final DLC “Blood and Wine”.
Speaking of the current peak value, there may be two reasons for growth.
- Firstly, The Witcher series from Netflix was released on December 20. The long-awaited first season of the adaptation managed to generate a number of scandals even before the premiere, and after it was not very well received by critics.
- Secondly, Steam is currently hosting a traditional winter sale. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is expected to hit the top chart. There is a 70% discount on the game with all DLC.
We add that the record figure of simultaneous online since the release of the game on Steam is 92 thousand people.
A new surge of interest in The Witcher 3 is not the last good news for CD Projekt. Today we announced a new agreement between the publisher and the author of The Witcher Saga. The first under the contract received new rights to The Witcher IP.
