Results of 2019: Andrey Iones from Saber Interactive about the main thing for the year

We continue to summarize the results of 2019 together with the heads of gaming companies and market experts. Next up is an interview with Saber Interactive‘s Chief Operating Officer, Andrey Iones. He told App2Top how 2019 went for the company.

How was 2019 for the company?

2019 for Saber was held under the star of World War Z. When we released the game in April, we quickly crossed the bar of two million copies. During the year, a significant number of updates were released that improved both the quality of the product and the volume of content offered.

In addition to this project, The Witcher 3 was also released on Switch. The fact that it can be run on the platform was initially not believed by Nintendo itself. Nevertheless, the project was done very efficiently and on time.

Ghostbusters: Remastered and NBA2 Playgrounds: GOTY also went into the company’s piggy bank.

Together with Focus Home Interactive, Snowrunner was announced. The game is being prepared for release in 2020. Several new projects have also been launched, but we will be able to talk about them only in the near future.

What events in the regional and global gaming industry do you consider central in the past year?

The announcements of the new generation consoles were a long-awaited event. Now they are almost a reality.

What are the main trends in the market today?

Apparently, streaming. Stadia and xCloud services are presented as “platforms of the future”. By the way, World War Z is one of the launch titles on xCloud.

Which third-party game releases this year, in your opinion, were the most important? Plus, which games did you spend the most time on in 2019 as a gamer?

I was happy to replay the “classics”: Uncharted, Tomb Raider, The Last of Us and Destiny 2.
