Gismart is expanding. Belarusian-British developer launches office in Kiev
Gismart has announced the opening of its fourth office. It will be located in the capital of Ukraine. Its focus will be the development of hyper-casual games for mobile devices.
The office itself has not been launched yet. The official opening will take place in January 2020. While Gismart completes the registration of a new legal entity and solves administrative issues.
However, the hiring has already started. There are interviews for positions such as Unity developer, 2D and 3D artist, producer and QA. Now more than 20 positions are open. Over the next year, Gismart plans to increase the staff of the new office to 40-50 people.
The company explains the choice of Kiev as the location of the new office by the high professional level of the local community of game developers.
“Within the framework of the publishing direction, Gismart already works with many Ukrainian indie studios and is familiar with the high level of expertise of specialists in the country,” the press release says.
By the way, St. Petersburg was also considered as a location, but in the end the choice was made in favor of the capital of Ukraine. Gismart also has offices in Minsk, London and Beijing.
The announcement of the new studio appeared against the background of the company’s success in a new direction for it. Since May of this year, Gismart, which previously specialized in music applications, has declared itself as a developer of hyper-casual games. In the summer, she released two games — Cool Goal! and Domino Smash, whose combined downloads reached 60 million.
The launch of a new studio specializing exclusively in a new direction will have to strengthen Gismart’s position in this niche, where it competes with such majors as Voodoo, Good Job Games, SayGames, Lion Studios and Playgendary.
