Media: Tencent wants to strengthen its business in the West with the help of Nintendo
Nintendo will play an important role in promoting Tencent in the West. Chinese and Japanese giants can create a line of console games for gamers in the USA and Europe.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is conducting a study of the Western market. Its goal is to explore the preferences of console gamers to create games in partnership with Tencent. For the latter, this is a chance to strengthen business outside of China.
We want to expand outside of China, and console players in the US and Europe are part of our target audience. We hope to develop console products with characters created by Nintendo and use it to understand what the secret of creating such games is.
Nintendo is also asking its studios abroad to focus on a female audience, according to media reports. There is a possibility that at least part of the aforementioned games will be intended for young women. According to analysts at Niko Partners, this is a logical step for a Tencent partner.
Women are turning into a driver of the gaming market. Chinese developers have not only refocused on games for female gamers, but are also adapting already released titles for this part of the audience.

Recall that Tencent is diversifying its strategy due to strict state censorship in its homeland. The publisher invests in large and small companies around the world. He has stakes in Activision Blizzard, Glu Mobile, Epic Games, plus he owns Riot Games entirely. Niko Partners believes that the Chinese giant is striving for “unspoken world domination.”
