Capcom has promised to minimize gacha in its mobile games

Japanese Capcom is ready to cut the gachi mechanics in its mobile games. The company took into account the concerns of the audience, which concerns the loot boxes.

Shinsekai Into the Depts
Capcom announced this in its new report.

She notes that the Japanese game dev has been discussing the similarity of gachi with a gambling lottery for several years. Mechanics are already banned in some countries outside Japan.

The Capcom report states the following: “We don’t want games that are supposed to make people happy to cause them the opposite emotions due to excessive spending (on gacha).” At the same time, the company promised to minimize gacha in its mobile games.

As noted by Gamesindustry.biz, recently Capcom has really changed its approach to monetization. She focused on the release of premium with a small number of microtransactions or without them at all. And her latest mobile project — Shinsekai Into the Depts — was released in Apple Arcade, so it does not contain IAP or advertising.

However, not all Japanese companies go the way of Capcom. For example, Mario Kart Tour from Nintendo and DeNA has recently entered the market, where there is a gacha, a subscription, and an IAP.
