Apple does not allow services to track downloads from Apple Arcade?
At least for third-party observers, Apple’s new gaming service lacks transparency. None of the Apple Arcade games are tracked by analytics services.
The portal was the first to draw attention to this PocketGamer.biz . He tried to “punch” some games from the Apple Arcade launch line through App Annie and Sensor Tower, but found nothing.
Analytical tools could not find applications by name. They also did not include games published in Apple Arcade in the lists of publishers’ projects. For example, the Arcade novelty Shantae and the Seven Sirens is not listed for the WayForward profile. However, all of the company’s previous games are there.
On PocketGamer.biz it is believed that there may be several explanations for this situation:
- analysts have not yet managed to integrate the solutions necessary for monitoring;
- Apple does not want third-party companies to track the performance of their service.
The latest version seems closer to reality to us. Apple has previously stated that Apple Arcade games will not be able to collect and track any information about user behavior in games. Perhaps this also applies to more general information — the number of downloads, the amount of time spent, and the like.
However, Apple itself will definitely collect such statistics at least to assess the success of the games presented in Apple Arcade.
