NetEase was able to advance in the Japanese mobile market

China’s NetEase has strengthened its position abroad. A number of her mobile titles entered the top 100 most profitable in Japan over the past month.

This is reported by analysts of Priori Data. They analyzed the Japanese rating of the most profitable games for 30 days — in total for iOS and Android devices.

74 out of 100 lines in the rating are occupied by projects of local publishers. The situation is quite standard: the mobile games market in Japan is always represented mainly by local titles. As noted on Gamasutra, getting there even with several games is an achievement for foreign publishers.

Now the largest foreign publisher in the top is just NetEase. The company purposefully worked for the Japanese market, and it managed to promote Identity V, Knives Out, LifeAfter and Great Kingdoms here.

For example, Identity V turned out to be a hit in the Land of the Rising Sun. This is where the title earns 80% of its income. Over the past 30 days, its revenue in Japan amounted to $32.1 million. Moreover, she had a jump in earnings thanks to her collaboration with Persona 5: the crossover allowed her to expand the Identity user base.

Note that now the next foreign publisher after NetEase in Japan is the Russian Playrix. From her, three games were included in the rating. And, as far as can be judged from the diagram above, the projects of other publishers from the Russian Federation were not included in the top.
