Instant Games gaming platform will be removed from Messenger

The social network Facebook has decided on major changes regarding the HTML5 gaming platform Instant Games. The platform will disappear from the Messenger messaging app. Now it is completely moving to the native application of Facebook itself.

The management of the social network explains such an initiative with the desire to make Messenger a faster and simpler application. At the same time, the innovation completely changes the paradigm of the gaming platform.

Recall that initially it was possible to play Instant Games projects only in Messenger chats. The messaging app even had a separate button in the menu with a list of games.

Some time ago, the button was removed, and the games were hidden in the “Interesting” section. Also, the application no longer requires you to choose a chat for the game, although it left such an opportunity. The games themselves, by the way, got the opportunity to put an icon on the desktop.

Now we are talking about more large-scale changes. Instant Games, which has always been promoted as an important part of Messenger, is completely moving into the already overloaded Facebook application in terms of functionality.

Why do we say “completely”?

Facebook already had a part of Instant Games functionality in March as part of a separate Facebook Gaming tab, which included, in addition to the HTML5 games catalog, streaming broadcasts and communities dedicated to the gaming industry.

So far, the final move will affect only the iOS versions of Messenger and Facebook. Is it worth waiting for similar measures within the Android ecosystem, it is not reported. There are no specific dates when the changes will take effect. It just says that everything will happen later this summer.

By the way, the changes will also affect the process of game submission. From now on, before submitting the game for placement in Instant Games, the developer will have to complete business verification and provide the platform’s editorial office with his Apple Developer ID.
