Brazil's video game industry Has More Than Doubled in Four Years
The Brazilian industry has grown noticeably in four years. The number of gaming companies in the country has more than doubled.
Key figures of the Brazilian gaming industry:
- 2014 — 133 gaming companies and 1133 specialists engaged in game development;
- 2018 — already 276 companies and 2731 specialists.
This data was given by the president of the Abragames Gaming Industry Association Sandro Manfredini at the Brazilian Indie Games Festival (BIG 2019).
According to Pocket Gamer, the Brazilian gaming sector will soon be a quarter of a century old. Currently, according to Newzoo, Brazil is the second gaming market in Latin America, second only to Mexico. Last year, Brazilian users spent $1.6 billion on games. This is more than the previously predicted Newzoo figure of $1.5 billion.
