AppOnboard acquired software for creating games without Buildbox code
AppOnboard analytical service bought Buildbox, a game engine that allows you to create mobile titles without code. The value of the asset is not disclosed.
Buildbox
According to the AppOnboard blog, under the terms of the deal, Buildbox CEO Trey Smith and his co-founder Nick Rudenko joined the company.
The first became the chief development officer of AppOnboard; the second — the vice president of technology.
For three years, both companies have been developing separate services for developing applications without code: Buildbox and AppOnboard Studio. According to Trey Smith, with the purchase of the AppOnboard engine, it will be possible to create a “complete set of tools” twice as fast, which will simplify the creation of mobile software as much as possible. This set will include libraries of sounds, graphic assets, animations, game source codes, simple tools and templates.

The deal will have a beneficial effect on the development of Buildbox, writes VentureBeat.
Engine users will have access to additional design tools (including AppOnboard Studio itself) for creating games and interactive advertising. AppOnboard CEO Jonathan Zweig noted that his company is already investing a lot of money in support of Buildbox.
Zweig also expressed his delight at buying, in his words, “the world’s most successful platform for creating games that does not require code.”
Buildbox has really achieved a lot in recent years. In 2018, more than 45 thousand games were created on this engine. In total, they scored 3 billion downloads in stores. One of the most popular titles created on Buildbox is Color Switch with its 250 million downloads. The game was developed in just a week.
As for AppOnboard Studio, its set of tools is designed to create Instant versions of games on Google Play. It is used by Kabam (MARVEL: Contest of Champions), Jam City (Cookie Jam Blast), Big Fish (Toy Story Drop) and other major mobile studios. At the beginning of this year, the platform became absolutely free for all developers.
