Tencent sees Call of Duty Mobile as a chance to move far in the global market
Call of Duty Mobile can help the global expansion of the publisher Tencent. Therefore, the publisher plans to launch the game not only in Europe and the USA, but also in Latin America, Japan and throughout Southeast Asia.
According to Bloomberg, the largest Chinese media giant has recently revised its strategy. At home, the publisher is facing strict state censorship, and its economic growth has slowed down record-breaking. In this regard, Tencent decided to actively promote itself in the West.
One of the attempts — Arena of Valor, a version of the Chinese hit Honor of Kings — failed. But the release of Call of Duty abroad, as Tencent expects, will follow a different, prosperous scenario. After all, this is a title based on the famous franchise from Activision. Games of the Call of Duty series have repeatedly become the best-selling in the United States over the past ten years.
By the way, the “daughter” of Tencent — TiMi is responsible for the development of Call of Duty Mobile.
We have accumulated a lot of experience in developing mobile games and now we believe that we have a very good chance of exporting our know-how.
Foreign Marketing Director of TiMi Studio Group
To promote the game, Tencent uses a distribution network that was created for the Arena of Valor. She will hire an additional group of foreign specialists in her American division. Recall, according to rumors, the western marketing staff of Arena of Valor was dissolved. This information was denied by Tencent. They also stated that they had never had a marketing division in Europe.
Call of Duty Mobile is currently in beta testing, its release date has not been set. It is unknown how Tencent and Activision will share the proceeds from the title.
