GameClub startup will update old premium games for modern mobile systems

Mobile startup GameClub Inc. intends to give a second life to old premium games. To do this, he has already raised $2.5 million. This money will be used for the official launch of the company at the end of 2019.

Super Crate Box
GameClub’s goal is to re—release classic premium mobile games on modern mobile devices.

There will be no microtransactions or the dominance of advertising in them.

The startup is already working on updating more than 50 exclusive games. Among them are Super Crate Box from Vlambeer, Hackycat from Ken Wong, Legendary Wars from Liv Games and others. Some are already being tested in early access, their release will take place in the fall. In addition, the startup is testing various monetization models.

Legendary Wars
The company plans to invest significant amounts in optimizing these games on new versions of mobile systems.

We are talking at least about the latest versions of iOS, according to appleinsider. Thanks to GameClub’s efforts, they will be able to support even 32-bit versions of old games.

The almost complete disappearance of premium games on the global mobile market has led to the fact that the demand of the interested audience is not satisfied, and talented developers are missing out on more and more opportunities. GameClub will carefully select the best premium games and create an infrastructure for them that promotes their growth. And this concept is very attractive.

It should be noted that CRCM Ventures, GC Tracker, Watertower Ventures, Ride Ventures and BreakawayGrowth Fund participated in the funding round that brought GameClub $2.5 million.

Nevertheless, GameClub has already encountered a problem with intellectual property rights for certain games. A startup has to refuse to update games that have been released by already retired copyright holders.

According to Pocket Gamer, GameClub also plans to create completely new premium games. There are no details about this initiative.
