Microsoft: there will be too few games in the Google Stadia library for a wide audience

There is a shortage of content on Google’s Stadia cloud platform. Although the platform has an “impressive cloud infrastructure”, it lacks games from leading publishers and developers.

So says Xbox Marketing Director Mike Nichols (Mike Nichols). He told The Telegraph about this. Microsoft does not seem to believe in the ability of Stadia to attract a wide audience only through cloud software. Also, according to Nichols, Google does not have long-term partnerships with major igrodelami, writes Gamesindustry.biz . Thus, the hype around the site may be exaggerated.

Nichols is right in the sense that Google doesn’t have a lot of partners. However, they are there. Within the framework of Stadia, Google cooperates with Ubisoft and Bethesda. With the help of their titles — Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey and DOOM: Eternal — the service was presented at GDC 2019.

Also, Google’s own games from the internal studio will definitely appear on the site. But this is clearly not going to happen soon: the launch of the studio was announced simultaneously with Stadia. Perhaps Google will tell you in detail about the Stadia game library this summer.

Nichols’ statements are not surprising, because Microsoft is preparing the main competitor of Stadia called Project xCloud. The company announced its streaming service almost following Google in October last year.
