CD Projekt will still pay compensation to Andrzej Sapkowski
The exact amount is unknown.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The conflict between CD Projekt and Andrzej Sapkowski has been settled.
Recall that the writer demanded $ 16 million from the studio that created a game trilogy based on his books about the witcher Geralt.
Sapkovsky demanded additional royalties based on the financial results of The Witcher 3. When he sold CD Projekt the rights to The Witcher Saga, he did not expect that the games on it would be so profitable. In October last year, his lawyers sent a letter to CD Projekt demanding to pay the writer at least 6% of the profit received.
As a result, according to GameInformer, Sapkovsky agreed to less compensation in a pre-trial order. CD Projekt did not specify exactly how much she would pay the author to “maintain a good relationship.”
The publication Puls Biznesu writes that CD Projekt will pay Sapkovsky even a little more than it owes. Earlier, the Polish studio insisted on the groundlessness of the author’s claims.
The last CD Projekt game inthe Witcher universe — “Blood Feud” — was released on November 9 last year.
