Facebook will not take a commission from the developers of Instant Games for Android
Facebook intends to cancel a 30% commission on revenue from in-game purchases in games of the Instant Games service on the Android platform. This is reported
on the official page of the Instant Games developer community on the social network.
Facebook explained that they want to support Android developers of Instant Games, saving them from paying a double tariff. Previously, a third of the in-game revenue of Instant Games titles for Android automatically went to Google, after which another 30% was deducted from the remaining amount in favor of Facebook. Game developers received only 49% of the product.
According to the company’s representatives, Facebook has exempted from the commission all income from in-game purchases in Instant Games for Android starting from August 1 of this year. Along with the cancellation of commissions, the social network has opened up the opportunity for Android developers to add in-game purchases to the Facebook app. Previously, this option on the Google platform was only available for the Facebook Messenger service.
At the same time, Facebook stressed that it will continue to charge 30% of the gaming revenue of games in the browser version of Instant Games. Recall that the social network allowed the introduction of in-game purchases in Instant Games in May of this year.
Another news was the announcement of the expansion of advertising opportunities for Instant Games. In the near future, blocks with playable ads will appear on the platform, allowing you to test the game directly in the news feed or Facebook Messenger.
